چکیده

1. Introduction Nanoporous materials are widely used as catalysts and adsorbents in applied chemistry and technology. Zeolites, with their well-defined, uniform and molecular-sized pore system, are one of the most important examples of such materials. Molecular transport is of crucial importance for many of their applications. One of the challenging tasks in chemical engineering is the design and optimization of zeolite-based processes by employing computer simulations. Hence, for precise predictions it is essential to have a detailed fundamental understanding of the transport processes. In the present work, molecular transport in two prominent representatives of zeolite structure types was investigated using IR microscopy (IRM) and interference microscopy (IFM). The results were compared with the predictions of theoretical approaches.

Loading dependence of the diffusion coefficient of methane in nanoporous materials.

In this work, we use molecular simulations to study the loading dependence of the self-and collective diffusion coefficients of methane in various zeolite structures. To arrive at a microscopic interpretation of the loading dependence, we interpret the diffusion behavior in terms of hopping rates over a free-energy barrier. These free-energy barriers are computed directly from a molecular simul...

Cellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches

The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...

Molecular simulations of the adsorption and diffusion of hydrocarbons in molecular sieves

In this short review it is demonstrated how molecular simulation can be used to obtain molecular insights in the behaviour of molecules inside the pores of zeolites. Whereas straightforward molecular dynamics can be used to study the behaviour of small molecules inside the pores, the study of the long chain hydrocarbons that are important in petrochemical applications require special computatio...

Modeling Jump Diffusion in Zeolites: II. Applications

We review recent applications of jump models for diffusion in zeolites. We describe the results of a coarse-grained model of the interplay between zeolite anisotropy and disorder, finding that certain disorder patterns can change how anisotropy controls membrane permeation. We show the results of a lattice model for single-file diffusion in zeolite membranes, demonstrating how single-file motio...

The working range of static field gradient NMR illustrated by measurements of the intracrystalline diffusion of water in NaA- zeolites

1. Introduction Measuring diffusion in zeolites is a long-lasting challenge. For more than 70 years many efforts have been made to determine the diffusion coefficient of host molecules in the porous framework of zeolites [1]. Actually the different techniques, which were applied, observed different processes and provided dissenting diffusion coefficients. Precisely, there are methods observing ...
